Hsinchu City God Ghost Festival

<p>The Zhúqiàn Ghost Festival City God Festival has been passed down since the establishment of the Hsinchu City God Temple in the 13th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1748), making it one of Taiwan's three major Ghost Festival celebrations. The event revolves around the 'City God's Procession' and features five major rituals: the Yin-Yang Master God's Departure from the Shrine, Opening the Gate of Blessings, Cangue Removal for Atonement, Night Patrol and Secret Visit, and the Procession to Relieve Lone Spirits. These rituals are solemn and deeply rooted in cultural heritage. Starting in 2024, the festival will also debut the 'City God Carnival,' integrating artistic performances, interactive challenges, and creative competitions, blending tradition with innovation to become Hsinchu's most iconic tourism and cultural brand.</p>
