2026 Miaoli Bombing the Dragon Event Series

<p>The "Bombing the Dragon" is a unique local folk custom in Miaoli, where dragons are welcomed to promote Hakka Lantern Festival celebrations, and it is also a representative of Taiwan's dragon dance culture. Since its inception in 1989, the unique Hakka Miaoli Bombing the Dragon culture has successfully captured the attention of people nationwide and even garnered international interest. It has gradually transformed from an early local folk activity into one of Taiwan's four major regional Lantern Festival cultures, and subsequently became a Lantern Festival folk activity among the "Twelve Hakka Villages Festivals". In recent years, the Miaoli Bombing the Dragon event has become an important indicator for showcasing Hakka dragon culture, aiming to develop local tourism, pursue economic growth, attract tourists, create towns and attractions centered around dragon culture, and promote Miaoli's traditional Hakka dragon culture.</p><p>The Miaoli Bombing the Dragon event series, following its scheduled progression, can generally be divided into four major themes: "Eye-Dotting Ceremony for Auspicious Dragons and Dragon Dance Competition", "Folk Parade", "Bombing the Dragon Night", and "Dragon Transformation into Heaven & Hakka Specialty Product Exhibition". Each year's events are innovative, with the aim of attracting visitors to participate. In recent years, to promote the internationalization of local tourism and align with the global trend of sustainable environmental resource development, "Miaoli Bombing the Dragon" has gradually moved towards a tourism-oriented development. During the Folk Parade and Bombing the Dragon Night, domestic and international performance groups are invited to attend and participate in the annual Bombing the Dragon grand event. The spectacular performances feel like being at an international carnival party.</p>
