'Hopeful Monsters' is an object visual theatre work inspired by the theory of evolution. The performance playfully presents the concept that 'all life is composed of the same fundamental building blocks.' Through innovative hand puppetry, strange creatures are created that transform and move in unexpected ways, demonstrating everything that can be formed and become from a single element. The work has no central characters; the narrative flows between water, land, and air, leading the audience on an unfamiliar yet captivating journey through nature. This is an evolutionary story told entirely by two hands. The hands move and transform in unexpected ways, becoming strange creatures that shift between water, earth, and air throughout the journey. All life is composed of the same fundamental building blocks — from simple organisms to colossal beasts. This is a tale of survival and struggle, connection and transformation, and it reminds us of the playfulness of life itself. After all, we humans are also animals.
