Pre-Columbian Cultural Heritage: Contemporary Ceramic Interpretations

“Contemporary Pre-Columbian Cultural Heritage” features 11 Chilean ceramic artists, all of whom are members of the UNESCO International Academy of Ceramics (IAC). Although Chile possesses a profound Pre-Columbian ceramic tradition, this cultural heritage was largely overlooked in contemporary ceramic art during the first half of the 20th century. However, since the latter half of the 20th century, a growing number of artists have begun to re-engage with the cultural roots of clay, injecting new perspectives and vitality into Chilean ceramics.
