2026 Penghu International Ocean Fireworks Festival

The Penghu County Government announced the schedule for the "2026 Penghu International Ocean Fireworks Festival" and revealed that it will collaborate with the classic Japanese anime IP "Dragon Ball Z" to jointly create a new theme: "Dragon Ball Z Penghu Summer Fireworks Festival." The county government stated that the 2026 Fireworks Festival will significantly enhance its scale and visibility by increasing the number of events and extending its overall duration. The festival will kick off with a trial run on April 20, officially open on May 4, and conclude on August 25. The county government pointed out that the Penghu International Ocean Fireworks Festival is one of Penghu's most important tourism brand events, serving not only as a crucial pillar for annual tourism but also bringing stable and considerable tourism economic benefits to the local area. In addition to maintaining high-quality performances, the 2026 Fireworks Festival will also adopt a 'phased, market-segmented' promotion model in line with overall tourism trends. From May to June, it will continue its past role as a preliminary annual tourism promotion, taking place every Monday and Thursday. From July to August, it will extend the fireworks excitement, stimulate tourist traffic on off-peak days, boost weekday tourism momentum during the summer, and expand overall tourism benefits. The county government explained that the 2026 Fireworks Festival will hold two trial runs on April 20 and 27, each featuring a 10-minute fireworks display. The official event period is from May 4 to August 25. From May 4 to June 25, events will be held every Monday and Thursday. From June 30 to August 25, events will be held every Tuesday. The main venue is located at Guanyinting Park in Magong, Penghu. The eagerly anticipated fireworks and drone performances are generally scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM. The opening on May 4 and the closing on August 25 will feature a 12-minute fireworks show and a 10-minute drone light show. Other sessions will include a 10-minute fireworks show and a 10-minute drone performance. Additionally, three outlying island sessions (Jibei, Wang'an, Qimei) and three local-exclusive sessions (Huxi, Baisha, Xiyu) are planned. Specific times and details will be announced separately. A total of 33 sessions are scheduled. The county government further explained that in addition to continuing its high-standard fireworks shows and drone light performances, the 2026 Fireworks Festival will also collaborate for the first time with the globally renowned Japanese anime "Dragon Ball Z." It will combine exciting anime elements with fireworks artistry and lighting technology to create a summer celebration that offers both visual impact and thematic characteristics. During the festival, several "Dragon Ball Z" themed extended activities will also be planned, including interactive character photo zones, large figurine displays, themed parks, and limited-edition co-branded merchandise. This will allow the public to immerse themselves in the overall theme atmosphere while enjoying the fireworks, enhancing their sense of participation and the brand's appeal. The drone light show will feature a swarm performance, subject to weather conditions and air traffic safety permits. The first drone light show is scheduled to officially debut at the opening ceremony on May 4. The county government also announced that detailed performance information, outlying island schedules, related event content, collaboration themes, and transportation/travel packages for the 2026 Penghu International Ocean Fireworks Festival will be gradually released to the public later.
