The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the important traditional festivals, and is also regarded by the public as a significant time for bringing good luck and warding off evil. Taichung's most iconic event, the "Dajia Tieh-chen Mountain Sword Well Noon Water Collection Event," attracts nearly a thousand people annually to collect water, praying for a year of wealth and good fortune. This year, a rich array of Dragon Boat Festival experiences has been specially planned, inviting people from all over the country to visit the Dajia Tieh-chen Mountain Sword Well Recreation Area during the three-day long weekend. Here, they can immerse themselves in the charm of traditional folklore while also taking the opportunity to explore Taichung. This year's event is themed "Dragon Boat Prosperity, Auspicious Horse Noon," cleverly using a homophone to imply "immediate good fortune," hoping that collecting noon water will bring smooth sailing in all endeavors. Commemorative noon water bottles, exclusive to the event, will be distributed via redemption coupons starting at 10 AM on Dragon Boat Festival (the 19th). There are 500 limited editions, available for free while supplies last. The popular "Uncle Lu Storytelling Theater," beloved by families, will present innovative interactive performances, guiding everyone to understand the legend of the Sword Well and Dragon Boat Festival customs. The event will also feature children's favorite clown balloon performances, close-up face-changing magic shows, as well as egg-balancing experiences and competitions, allowing everyone to feel the strong festive atmosphere. In traditional customs, Dragon Boat Festival is the best time to attract good luck and dispel bad luck. Every year, when the Sword Well is opened for noon water collection on Dragon Boat Festival, crowds flock to it. This year, popular lantern sets from the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival, the spiritual deer "Qing Gang Li" (Acorn) and "Gu Sui" (Grain Ears), have been fully moved to the event site for display, inviting everyone to pray together and take photos. As Dragon Boat Festival is a long weekend, everyone is invited to collect noon water to pray for peace, health, good fortune, and purification for themselves and their relatives and friends, while also taking the opportunity to visit Taichung for a relaxed yet fulfilling Dragon Boat holiday. For those unable to attend in person, you can participate in the "Dragon Boat Customs: You Know It All" online event. Answer the Dragon Boat customs correctly for a chance to win one of 20 limited-edition noon water commemorative bottles and small mugwort sachets. Online event information will be posted on the official Facebook page of the "Taichung City Scenic Area Administration Office." Remember to follow the "Taichung City Scenic Area Administration Office" Facebook fan page at 10 AM on Dragon Boat Festival to join the fun!
