Gaomei Wetland is located south of the mouth of the Dajia River in Qingshui District, Taichung. It boasts abundant natural resources, covering a total area of 701.3 hectares. It is not only one of the most representative wetlands in Taiwan but also one of the few tourist attractions that combine ecological preservation with tourism development. The Taichung City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau invites the public to step into this most beautiful natural treasure trove. Chen Mei-hsiu, Director of the Tourism and Travel Bureau, stated that Gaomei Wetland was once hailed by the Japanese magazine H.I.S as a “must-visit destination in a lifetime,” attracting numerous tourists. The golden sunset scenery has also become an excellent spot for countless photographers. In addition to its stunning sunset views, Gaomei Wetland is also a national important wetland and wildlife sanctuary. It is one of the few precious places in Taiwan where visitors can observe salt marshes and intertidal marsh zones without disturbing the ecosystem, allowing them to experience and understand biodiverse habitats. Continuing the brand of the “Gaomei Different Music Concert” series, the city government plans to host the “2026 Gaomei Different Music Concert” on May 23rd at 4 PM at the plaza next to the boardwalk in front of Gaomei Wetland. It will feature performances by local iconic groups such as the Resonance Chamber Orchestra, Weaving Entertainment, and Taichung Junior A Cappella Choir. Additionally, students from Ling Tung University's Department of Fashion Design will be invited for an outdoor fashion show, showcasing the vibrant synergy of industry-academia collaboration. On May 30th at 4 PM, a series of activities will continue at the same venue, where Calvin, Xixi, Straw Hat Girl Wen Bo-chun, and Kiki Chen Ya-qi will serenade visitors with their gentle voices, accompanying them as they enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery of Taichung. The Tourism and Travel Bureau added that a cultural and creative market will be held at the lighthouse park around Gaomei Wetland on May 23rd and 24th, jointly promoting coastal tourism. Tourists who enjoy seafood can visit the Wuqi Tourist Fish Market. Besides a wide variety of seafood dishes, grilled squid, and “one-bite crispy” snacks, it also features realistic 3D murals, freshly caught fish, and dried goods, offering a comprehensive experience suitable for visitors of all ages to enjoy the fishing port ambiance. The Tourism and Travel Bureau suggests that for easy access to coastal attractions, visitors should make good use of Taichung Tourist Bus Route 309 (Gaomei Line) and Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Route 679 (Vibrant Ocean Line). It also reminds travelers to protect this natural treasure when visiting. Furthermore, Gaomei Wetland's 4K high-resolution live stream is also an excellent option for “cloud travel”! Let “Lens-kun,” on standby 24 hours a day, provide you with a time-zone-free, borderless online travel experience!
