The Grey-faced Buzzard, also known as the Grey-faced Eagle, gets its name primarily because the male bird has a grey face. As it arrives in the Bagua Mountain and Dadu Mountain areas around the Qingming Festival, locals in central Taiwan call it the 'Qingming Bird' or 'Tomb-Sweeping Bird.' Due to its migration from the south, it is also known as the 'Southern Route Hawk.' The Grey-faced Buzzard is also the county bird of Changhua County, symbolizing the Changhua people's values of honoring commitments, trustworthiness, and respecting ancestors. It is a precious, rare, and protected animal.
