The malahtangia Ear-Shooting Festival is the grandest of all Bunun ceremonies. During the rituals, it not only showcases the tribe's lifestyle of living in harmony with nature but also serves as a crucial festival for cultural inheritance. Boys follow elders into the mountains to hunt, while girls learn to weave and brew wine. From the gun offering (pislai) to reporting wartime achievements (malastapang); from pounding rice (mabazu) to brewing wine (kadavus) — the tribal language (halinga), taboos (samu), culture (bungka), and songs (huzas) breathe alongside us. With big hands holding small, generation after generation will not forget the ancestral teachings, abiding by the promise made with the moon.
