Hsinchu County Launches Top 100 Tourist Attractions, Featuring Travel Passports and Exclusive Discounts During Its 'Star Month'

Hsinchu County's four major attractions—Emei Lake, Wufeng Zhang Xueliang Cultural Park, Jianshi Frog Stone Trail, and Smangus—have successfully been selected for the “Taiwan Top 100 Tourist Attractions” initiative promoted by the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications. To further promote these highlight attractions and strengthen its tourism brand, the Hsinchu County Government today (21st) held the “Hsinchu County Top 100 Tourist Attractions Promotion Conference.” Collaborating with major tourism industry groups within the county, they launched a “Travel Passport” offering recommended itineraries for the four major attractions and special discounts from local businesses. There is also a stamp collection activity where visitors can redeem a Pi Pi Lion badge, inviting travelers to Hsinchu County to experience its local natural and cultural charm. The conference gathered representatives from the Hsinchu County Tourism Association, Homestay Association, Hotel Business Association, amusement park operators, commercial districts, and leisure agriculture areas. The atmosphere was lively, attracting nearly 20 travel agencies for exchange, and directors and supervisors from the Taiwan Domestic Travel Industry Development Association, Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Association, and Inbound Travel Association were present to show their strong support, demonstrating Hsinchu County's high level of attention and potential in the tourism market. County Magistrate Yang Wen-ke stated that Hsinchu boasts rich natural landscapes and profound cultural heritage. The four selected attractions each have unique characteristics, ranging from the scenic beauty of Emei Lake, the historical charm of Wufeng Zhang Xueliang Cultural Park, the ecological allure of Jianshi Frog Stone Trail, to Smangus with its thousand-year-old sacred trees. Each attraction possesses its own distinct appeal. Magistrate Yang also mentioned that Hsinchu County's tourist numbers reached 7.34 million last year, and the goal for this year is to increase it to 8 million. In the future, the county government will also enhance Hsinchu County's tourism brand power by integrating resources, promoting marketing programs, and organizing special events, thereby attracting more domestic and international visitors. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the beautiful mountains and waters of Hsinchu County. Chen Ying-chou, Director of the County Government's Transportation and Tourism Department, pointed out that since April, the county government has successively invited media, as well as domestic and international travel agencies, for on-site visits and inspections. These visits have received consistent praise from both media and the industry. After the inspections, exclusive itineraries for each highlight attraction will be progressively launched, which is bound to attract domestic tourists to Hsinchu County. To extend the tourism momentum, a “Travel Passport” will be launched on May 20th. It includes one-day and two-day itinerary suggestions for the four major attractions, offers discount information for nearly 30 businesses, and features a stamp collection activity where visitors can redeem a Pi Pi Lion souvenir badge, allowing tourists to plan their trips according to their preferences. Furthermore, in conjunction with the Tourism Administration's “Island-wide Monthly Party” event, Hsinchu County will be featured as the “Star of the Month” in September. In response, they will launch a coupon campaign: guests staying at designated partner accommodations from September to October will receive a NT$50 discount coupon for the Frog Stone Skywalk ticket and a NT$150 discount coupon for Emei Lake boat rides.
