Spring Outing in Attire: A Seasonal Stroll Activity in Qionglin and Xiaojing

Qionglin and Xiaojing, located in the center of Kinmen Island, are two traditional settlements that are close neighbors yet distinct in their character. Qionglin is known as the 'Millennium Settlement,' with well-preserved clusters of Southern Fujian-style ancient houses and alleyways winding like a labyrinth, showcasing its deep clan cultural heritage. Although smaller in scale, the Xiaojing settlement is rustic and tranquil. It still retains remnants of former wartime defensive barracks, standing alongside old trees and civilian residences, presenting a unique landscape where civilian life and military history coexist. Both places are rich in human stories and historical contexts, from their architectural forms and living memories to folk festivals. For the Lunar New Year of 115 (2026), through settlement strolls, costume experiences, and cultural re-enactments, we invite residents, those returning home for the holidays, and tourists to explore the alleys, experience the historical depth of the settlements through walking and activities, and make Qionglin and Xiaojing living spaces that connect the past and the present.
