Officially established in 2015, Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore is located in Pingtung City. This bookstore has witnessed the decline of military dependents' villages, its designation as a historical building, and its renovation into the current “Pingtung Victory Star Village Creative Living Park.” It has consistently upheld the philosophy of “Daily Knowledge, Knowledge Forms a Forest,” aspiring to promote reading much like caring for plants – continuous irrigation and careful nurturing, hoping that one day it will flourish. It has been operating for nearly 10 years. Books preserve knowledge, and reading disseminates culture. Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore is situated in the southern part of the country. The book selection has always been based on the owner's interests, recommended to the public. The bookstore frequently organizes diverse activities and lectures, combining literary reading with music, natural ecology, plant care, and more. It is dedicated to transforming the knowledge within books into tangible activities, further attracting people to participate and, through participation, becoming “readers.” We hope that anyone who walks into Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore will have the opportunity to become a “reader” and, in turn, a “cultural disseminator.” Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore aspires to be not just a physical “independent bookstore,” but an important platform for cultural preservation and transmission. There are many independent bookstores, and finding one's unique positioning is not just about establishing a brand but also about embracing a deeply meaningful “mission” for the next decade of Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore on this land. We are also deeply aware of the rise and fall of our mother tongue, Taiwanese (Taigi) culture. Therefore, during the bookstore's operation, we frequently invite writers and musicians who create in Taiwanese to give lectures, performances, and share their work. Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore combines its architectural “cultural characteristics” (it was formerly a Japanese military dormitory, then a Kuomintang general's residence, and now a bookstore promoting literary reading), a love for natural ecology (plants, insects), and literary music to create a “home-like” atmosphere. Each event is connected, like casually walking to the balcony on an afternoon, sitting down, sipping tea or coffee, opening a favorite book, accompanied by the afternoon sun, the scent of grass, and the sounds of insects and birds, and entering the world of words. We anticipate that the various exhibitions and co-learning/co-creation activities we promote will be interesting and lively, audible, interactive, tactile, and “warm” cultural experiences. Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore is currently located at No. 1 Qingying Lane within the Pingtung Victory Star Village Creative Living Park. In addition to preserving the traces of former residents' daily lives, it actively greenifies the bookstore environment, becoming another small park showcasing ecological conservation. The old Japanese-style house exudes a nostalgic atmosphere. Casually sitting in a corner of the room, reading a beautiful passage, closing your eyes and imagining, you hear distant sounds and the loud chirping of cicadas. The beauty of reading – wanting to remember it, wanting to share it, wanting to tell you about it – thus “Sunny. Daily Cultivated Bookstore” came into being. The bookstore's name embodies the meaning “Daily Knowledge, Knowledge Forms a Forest.” Reading is like caring for plants, requiring daily sunlight and irrigation. Daily reading allows one to gain knowledge that flourishes like a forest. Paper also comes from trees, which is also a way of paying homage to nature.
