Iron Fort

Iron Fort is located on the southwestern coast of Nangan Island, and is one of Matsu's most iconic coastal defense strongholds. The fort is built upon a giant rock protruding from the sea, surrounded by water on all four sides, giving it an extremely crucial strategic position. The stronghold is constructed with robust reinforced concrete and granite, featuring gun emplacements, bunkers, observation ports, and firing platforms, fully showcasing the defensive fortifications of the wartime era. Visitors can traverse the fort's internal passages, ascend to the elevated viewing platform, experience the former military atmosphere, and simultaneously admire the magnificent coastal scenery and the sound of waves crashing against the shore.
