Sanlong Temple

Sanlong Temple is commonly known as Wangye Temple. It enshrines the Sanxing Wangye of Chifu, also known as Sanfu Qiansui. Legend has it that the San Qiansui Wangye (Three Princes/Marshals) enshrined here arrived at Xiaoliuqiu by a small boat, and a straw temple was built, marking the beginning of Sanlong Temple. Sanlong Temple's Triennial Sanfu Qiansui Peace Festival is a very important event in Liouciou Township. Each time the festival takes place, residents who have moved away return with their elderly and children, and Liouciou-registered fishing boats suspend operations to return to Xiaoliuqiu. The fishing port becomes packed with boats of all sizes. The township office also holds a Royal Boat Festival (Wangye Boat Festival) evening party the night before the main festival, complete with fireworks, creating a vibrant atmosphere. All men on the island, regardless of social status, serve as sedan chair bearers for the royal sedan. Women are responsible for providing snacks for the sedan chair bearers and lunch for the pilgrims, and drinks are freely available along the route. All these religious rituals and customs are distinctive features of Xiaoliuqiu's "Welcoming Wangye" festival.
