Danjiang Bridge

Situated at the confluence of the river and the sea, the Danjiang Bridge connects Tamsui and Bali with its single-tower asymmetric cable-stayed bridge structure, significantly shortening the travel time between the two areas, which previously required crossing the Guandu Bridge. The bridge accommodates buses, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians, and also reserves space for a light rail track. Construction plans for the Danjiang Bridge were first proposed in the 1980s. In the 2015 international competition, master architect Zaha Hadid's design stood out, blending engineering rationality with aesthetic poetry to create a new landmark at the Tamsui River mouth.
