Visitor Essentials

Beitou Central New Village is one of the 13 military dependents' villages preservation areas approved by the Ministry of National Defense across Taiwan, and one of the few remaining military dependents' villages in Taipei City with a complete scale. The residences of Central New Village are closely linked to the development of the Tri-Service General Hospital Beitou Branch (formerly the Japanese Army Garrison Hospital Beitou Branch). Furthermore, the complete preservation of different types of residential buildings from various periods, combined with Beitou's unique historical context, hot spring culture, and living memories, makes Central New Village an important historical site in Beitou. In 2021, the Taipei Culture Foundation moved in to operate the village. Through spatial revitalization and residency programs, it promotes community preservation and redevelopment, fosters local historical and cultural research, and gradually establishes a historically, educationally, and intellectually rich humanistic living space for military dependents' villages. Beitou Central New Village positions itself as the "Taipei Military Dependents' Village Cultural Preservation Base" and sets this as a key development goal. By connecting resources from the Xinbeitou area and extending to integrated promotion across regions, it showcases Beitou's diverse and rich community stories, bringing new characteristics and highlights to Beitou.
