Toad Hill Huanmin New Village

A settlement built by water - Toad Hill Huanmin New Village. The Toad Hill settlement is located at the southern end of the Taipei Basin, adjacent to the NTU Gongguan commercial district. Huanmin New Village, constructed along the mountain, is currently the only completely preserved Air Force dependents' village in Taipei City. The community boasts a rich awareness of cultural preservation, making it an ideal location for 'showcasing historical facets through community engagement.' By leveraging its unique spatial characteristics in ecology, community development, education, and architecture, and by revisiting stories from the dependents' village era, preserving its tradition of mutual neighborhood support, integrating natural resources, and establishing environmental learning paths, Huanmin New Village is set to evolve into a sustainable mountain dependents' village. It aims to become the premier model for such villages in Taipei, thereby enriching the cultural essence and local memories of the Chengnan (South of the City) area.
