Upon arriving at Lishan Farmers' Square in Nangang, you'll notice the plaza floor inlaid with verses from "Ding Feng Bo" by Su Shi, a literary giant of the Northern Song Dynasty, creating a rich literary ambiance. This site was originally a private academy during the Japanese colonial period, where local children studied. After a landslide, the area was abandoned for many years and lost its original appearance. The Geotechnical Engineering Office, in collaboration with the agricultural community's environmental improvement project, rehabilitated the former landslide site. By incorporating elements such as Japanese-style pavilions, bald cypress trees, and landscape rocks, they evoked the imagery of the old academy and crafted a uniquely styled recreational plaza. Opposite Lishan Farmers' Square is Sifen Stream, which has seen successful fish conservation through stream closure efforts. Visitors can also take a pleasant stroll along the heart-shaped stepping stones and the riverside trail, listening to the gentle murmur of the stream while admiring the beautiful bald cypress trees. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely weekend visit to experience the enchanting bald cypress grove and the romantic atmosphere of the twin heart stepping stones. If you're interested in the story of Sifen Stream's fish conservation, feel free to contact the Jiuru Community Development Association to arrange an ecological guided tour, offering a chance to connect with nature and enjoy an educational and fun excursion.
