Visitor Essentials

Gongguan Riverside Plaza is a leisure area in Taipei adjacent to the Xindian River. It was also Taipei's water source a century ago and is the city's only scenic stretch without dikes. On weekdays, it offers residents a place to relax and enjoy the riverside scenery, making it one of the few leisure areas in the city that is fully utilized 24 hours a day. In the mornings, people come here for morning exercises, practicing tai chi, running, or cycling. There is also a bicycle rental station, allowing visitors to enjoy cycling along the riverside bike paths. In the evenings, there are exotic food stalls and stylish bars. Every Friday evening, there are free live band performances, and combined with the riverside cuisine, it forms a rare outdoor open-air bar area within Taipei. On the south side of the plaza, you'll find PIPE Live Music, a venue transformed from the designated city historic site "Huntsui Pumping Station." After ten years of planning and operation, it has become one of the world's few successful examples of repurposing a historic pumping station into a music performance venue. It hosts over 300 music performances annually, serving as the first stage for many famous Taiwanese bands and an important place for young people to learn about hardware technologies like lighting and sound. On holidays, the plaza regularly hosts markets featuring youth cultural and creative products and handmade goods, accompanied by live DJ performances. You are welcome to come and enjoy the market's vibrancy and musical feast. (Source: Taipei Water Park)
