Shifang Lecollection Music Theatre

Shifang Lecollection Music Theatre is suitable for percussion concerts, solo recitals (instrumental/vocal), chamber music concerts, presentations, and multimedia experimental music theatre performances. Additionally, it is also suitable for formal ceremonies and various lectures. The wall partitions are made of professional soundproofing materials, thick and sturdy, completely isolating external environmental noise. The theatre's interior decoration uses high-grade solid oak wood, providing excellent acoustic reflection and creating a sound field with clear sound lines. To express the beauty of 'rests' and 'pianissimo' in music, the air conditioning system is one of Shifang Lecollection Music Theatre's important designs, completely free from the wind noise typically found in the air ducts of small, medium, and large multi-functional performance venues. The audience seating is tiered, using movable folding chairs, allowing for flexible use of space according to the needs of each performance group. In 1997, French-trained percussionist Mr. Xu Bonian and pianist Ms. Luo Meiya returned to Taiwan – the land they deeply loved – with immense passion for art, hoping to cultivate a garden of humanities and arts. Recognizing that there were few venues available for professional musicians to perform in Taiwan at the time, especially even fewer suitable for 'modern music,' they chose a factory located in an alley in Taipei's Datong District and transformed it into Taiwan's first privately-owned art sanctuary. This small music theatre, with a 3.6-meter high ceiling, boasts an acoustically golden-ratio space. To make it a home for musicians, the Madou Café is located outside the theatre, serving coffee, fine wine, and meals, bridging the gap between people and music art through gourmet food. Today, Shifang Lecollection Music Theatre has been established for over two decades, having hosted countless international masters and collaborated with numerous emerging musicians returning from overseas studies. It is a place where many professional musicians and Golden Melody Award winners produce albums and record records. It is considered the best choice by many music teachers for hosting student-teacher concerts. It is a fertile ground where contemporary Taiwanese composers take root, grow, and thrive, hosting forums on modern music. Here, there is an abundance of love and emotion for art.
