Visitor Essentials

The Wang Da-hong House Theater was once located within architect Wang Da-hong's residence in an alley on Jianguo South Road, but it has since been demolished. In 2017, it was reconstructed as a replica by the "Wang Da-hong Architecture Research and Conservation Society" in the Art Park south of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and subsequently donated to the Taipei City Government for research and promotional education. In 2018, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum initiated its operation in the form of the "Wang Da-hong House Theater," hoping it would serve as a crucial base for visitors to learn about Wang Da-hong and his former residence, and become an experimental platform for promoting Taiwan's architectural history and introducing architectural aesthetics. The "Wang Da-hong House Theater," launched by TFAM, incorporates both the elements of "architecture" and "theater." It can be interpreted as "architecture (itself a theater where life unfolds)" or, treating "architecture" as a verb, interpreted as "to build (a) theater." Here, "theater" differs from the common understanding of a physical space with a stage, seats, actors, and audience. Conceptually, it is closer to constructing a space distinct from the real world, allowing visitors to step in and experience it firsthand, thereby building their unique viewing experience. Wang Da-hong Books & DH Café is a multi-functional art and cultural space located next to the "Wang Da-hong House Theater." It features a selection of architectural and art publications, coffee, and light meals, combined with miniature exhibitions and thematic salon lectures. The aim is to recreate the elegance and professionalism of the architect's study, and the rich scene of cultural gatherings and flowing ideas in the residence's main hall.
