Songshan Railway Station is one of the oldest railway stations in Taiwan. Since the construction of the first railway line from Keelung to Hsinchu during the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty, Songshan has already served as a simple ticket office. The Songshan area was developed early, originally being a settlement of the Ketagalan Pingpu tribe's Maoli Jihou community. Its old place name was 'Dajianna Xikou Street'. In the 13th year of Guangxu (1887), the tickets used at that time were substituted with Longma (Dragon Horse) postage stamps. In the 9th year of Taisho during the Japanese colonial period, Dajianna Xikou Street was renamed Songshan Village, Qixing County, Taipei Prefecture, and 'Xikou Station' was also renamed 'Songshan Station'.
