Fulin Park

Fulin Park is located at the intersection of Zhongshan North Road and Fulin Road in Shilin District. Completed in 1991 (ROC Year 80), it covers an area of approximately 2.6 hectares and is an open, triangular-shaped comprehensive park. Its most distinctive feature is the elegant art sculptures designed by Mr. Li Zhiwen, Director of the Fine Arts Department at the National Institute of the Arts, using natural scenery as the main theme. There are six sets of sculptures: Sun, Cloud, Mountain, Waterfall, Water, and Well. These pieces utilize abstract expressionism to give three-dimensional form to natural landscapes, inspired by pictograms. All five sets, except for 'Water' which is cast in bronze, are made entirely of natural stone. These nature-themed sculptures are integrated throughout the park, creating a unique visual landscape that changes with space and form, offering different effects and beauty whether viewed from afar or up close. Fulin Park is separated from Shilin Official Residence Park by just one road. In 2009 (ROC Year 98), the park underwent renovation to accommodate surrounding parking needs and the establishment of the Li Ko-Yung Memorial Library. Its underground parking lot can accommodate 232 cars and 67 motorcycles, while the ground level provides space for 10 tour buses. This not only offers convenient parking for visitors to Shilin Official Residence but also allows those heading to Yangmingshan for flower viewing or hot springs to park their vehicles here and easily take a bus up the mountain, avoiding traffic congestion. Inside Fulin Park, lush green lawns and verdant woods create a feeling of being in a rural countryside. In a bustling metropolis, such scenery is becoming increasingly rare.
