Huashan 1914 Cultural and Creative Industries Park

The Huashan 1914 Cultural and Creative Industries Park was formerly the Taipei Winery, established by the Japanese in 1914. It was originally a sake production plant, later becoming the Taipei Winery, and is now one of Taipei City's designated historical sites. The name of the area where Huashan Cultural Park is located has an interesting origin: during the Qing Dynasty, it was originally called 'Sanbanqiao Zhuang Dazhuwei.' In 1922, during the Japanese colonial period, the Taiwan Governor-General's Office abolished the old street and village names in Taipei and renamed the area 'Kabayama-cho.' The name 'Kabayama' was derived from Kabayama Sukenori, the first Governor-General of Taiwan during Japanese rule. At that time, Kabayama-cho encompassed government entities such as the Taipei City Office (now the site of the Executive Yuan), Kabayama Freight Station, and the Taipei Winery, making it an area planned and developed under Taipei City's urban planning during the Japanese colonial period. During the period of the Nationalist Government, 'Kabayama' was changed back to 'Huashan,' a name that has been used ever since. After 1999, the Huashan Cultural Park became a venue for cultural activities, including art exhibitions and music performances, available for use by the arts and culture community, non-profit organizations, and individuals. Additionally, the park features various commercial facilities such as restaurants, shops, and art galleries. To date, it has hosted numerous art and cultural exhibitions and performances, and has also renovated old buildings and installed art installations, attracting visitors to explore and take photos. Behind the park, there is also a large lawn area, providing space for picnics and recreation.
