Yangmingshan Park is located north of Taipei City, approximately 17 kilometers from the city center. During the Japanese colonial period, this area was covered in cogongrass, hence it was called Caoshan (Grass Mountain). After Taiwan was retroceded, in honor of Mr. Wang Yangming, "Caoshan" was renamed "Yangmingshan" in 1950, and the Yangmingshan Administration was established to develop Yangmingshan Park. However, the park's urban planning area is approximately 107 hectares. After the Yangmingshan Administration was reorganized in 1977, park operations were handed over to the Parks and Street Lights Management Office. This park, part of the Datun Mountain Group and situated at an elevation of 445 meters, is backed by Qixing Mountain, flanked by Shamao Mountain on its left, close to Datun Mountain on its right, and offers a distant view of the layered peaks of Guanyin Mountain. Its climate is warm and humid, with cool summers, making it an excellent summer retreat. It is also the only place in Taiwan with a landscape of extinct volcanoes, sulfur vents, and natural hot springs. The park is filled with various flowers such as plum, cherry, peach, plum, azalea, and camellia. Every spring, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, many people are attracted to the mountain to enjoy the flowers. There is also a flower clock composed of various seasonal flowers; if you visit, don't forget to take a picture with Yangmingshan's most iconic flower clock. At Yangmingshan Park, you can enjoy flowers in spring, escape the heat in summer, admire silvergrass and maple leaves in autumn, and soak in hot springs in winter. Yangmingshan's diverse beauty and delights throughout the four seasons are waiting for you to discover!
