Dazhi Zhifu Temple

Dazhi Zhifu Temple is the spiritual and religious center for residents of the Dazhi area (including Zhongshan District, Neihu District, and Shilin District). It is also one of the popular destinations for international tourist groups interested in temple architecture and cultural tourism. Dazhi Zhifu Temple has a history of over 200 years and primarily worships the Taoist deity 'Tudigong' (God of the Earth) as its main deity. Following the structure and spirit of Taoist temples, it enshrines accompanying deities with the purpose of promoting Taoist doctrines, establishing righteous folk beliefs, guiding people towards goodness, purifying society, preserving traditional folk culture and morality, and engaging in social charitable activities. Additionally, Dazhi Zhifu Temple also enshrines deities such as Guanyin (the Giver of Sons), Mazu (Empress of Heaven), Baoyi Daifu, Baosheng Dadi, Wenchang Dijun (God of Culture and Literature), Guansheng Dijun (Emperor Guan), and the Five Princes of the Royal Palace (Wangye Gong) – Li, Chi, Wu, Zhu, and Fan. Throughout the year, devotees can light Tai Sui lamps, Bright lamps, Peace lamps, Wenchang lamps, and Prosperity lamps to pray for auspiciousness, blessings, and wisdom. Key dates and events: 1st day of the 1st lunar month: The first incense offering at 11:15 PM (Jizi hour), celebrating blessings and divine grace. 10th day of the 1st lunar month: Spring lamp lighting and consecration of the 'Tai Sui Star Lord of the Year, Peace lamps, Bright lamps, Wenchang lamps, and Prosperity lamps' to pray for vitality and blessings throughout the year. 15th day of the 1st lunar month: Birthday of the Great Emperor of Heaven Officials, 'Prayer for Peace and Blessing Ritual'. 2nd day of the 2nd lunar month: Birthday of Tudigong (God of the Earth), celebrating with the 'Tudigong Birthday Blessing Festival' event and a Tudigong association fellowship dinner. 3rd day of the 2nd lunar month: Birthday of Wenchang Dijun (God of Culture and Literature). 19th day of the 2nd lunar month: Birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva. 15th day of the 3rd lunar month: Birthday of Baosheng Dadi, Wu Zhenren. 23rd day of the 3rd lunar month: Birthday of Mazu (Empress of Heaven), 'Prayer for Peace and Blessing Ritual'. 10th day of the 4th lunar month: Birthday of Baoyi Daifu, Zhang Xun. 17th day of the 4th lunar month: Anniversary of the temple's reconstruction and consecration after the Dazhi land rezoning. 26th day of the 4th lunar month: Birthday of Prince Li of the Five Princes. 27th day of the 4th lunar month: Birthday of Prince Fan of the Five Princes. 15th day of the 6th lunar month: Birthday of Prince Chi of the Five Princes. 19th day of the 6th lunar month: Enlightenment Day of Guanyin Bodhisattva. 24th day of the 6th lunar month: Birthday of Guansheng Dijun (Emperor Guan). 18th day of the 7th lunar month: Celebration of Zhongyuan Festival with the 'Universal Salvation Ritual'. 19th day of the 7th lunar month: Birthday of the Tai Sui Star Lord of the Year. 15th day of the 8th lunar month: Tudigong's Enlightenment and Ascension, and Birthday of Prince Zhu of the Five Princes. 16th day of the 8th lunar month: Fushou Association fellowship dinner. Mid-Autumn 'Begging for Turtle' activity starts from the 13th. 15th day of the 9th lunar month: Birthday of Prince Wu of the Five Princes. 15th day of the 10th lunar month: Birthday of the Great Emperor of Water Officials, 'Prayer for Peace and Blessing Ritual'. 22nd day of the 12th lunar month: Year-end lamp thank-offering, completion of merits. 2nd and 16th day of each lunar month: Chanting scriptures and submitting petitions for blessings, for the disciples to achieve auspiciousness, blessings, and wisdom.
