Located at the intersection of Sec. 1 Zhicheng Road and Yusheng Street in Shilin District, nestled by the Shuangxi River, it is a large natural park rich in green ecology and cultural historical sites. Its name originates from the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, when immigrants from Zhangzhou, Fujian, settled in the Danbei and Shilin areas. The park was named 'Zhishan' because its terrain is similar to that of Zhishan in Zhangzhou, Fujian. The park encompasses prehistoric cultures such as the Dapenkeng Culture, Zhishanyan Culture, Yuanshan Culture, and Botanical Garden Culture, as well as historical cultures from the Qing Dynasty, Japanese colonial period, and the Republic of China era, making it rich in humanistic and historical sites. Within the park is 'Huiji Temple', an ancient temple first built in the 17th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1752), making it over 260 years old. In 1979, it was designated a Class 3 historic site by the Ministry of the Interior, and primarily enshrines the 'Sacred King of Kaizhang'. Due to the park being a long-term protected historic site, many old trees are still preserved within, such as the three-hundred-year-old camphor tree next to the Yunong Reading Room, which is considered the park's treasure. Furthermore, the park's terrain and landforms have, over long periods of weathering, created numerous natural landscapes, such as Elephant Rock, Wormhole Cave, Onion Rock, Old Man Rock (Shitou Gong), and Snake and Frog Rock, all of which serve as rich geological teaching materials.
