"A mountain is renowned not for its height, but for the immortals it shelters; water is efficacious not for its depth, but for the dragons it contains." Songshan Cihui Temple, situated at the foot of Fushou Mountain in Taipei City, was founded by its current abbess, Ms. Guo Yezi. She is a lay practitioner deeply devoted to Taoist principles, cultivating both virtue and spiritual practice. The temple was established with the compassionate philosophy of "grieving for heaven and pitying mankind" and "saving oneself and saving others," aiming to uphold divine teachings, liberate sentient beings, inspire spiritual cultivation among the faithful, and purify human hearts. Songshan Cihui Temple enshrines the Grand Holy Queen Mother of the West (Xi Wang Mu) from the Jade Pond of the Ultimate Void. The environment here is elegant, exuding a clear and bright spiritual aura, with a divinely majestic and grand atmosphere, embraced by green mountains. It is truly a dwelling place for saints, immortals, and Buddhas, a site for virtuous devotees to cultivate their minds, nurture their character, and practice spirituality, and a must-visit scenic spot and celestial realm for tourists. The temple spans an area of over 10,000 pings and is comprised of a meticulously designed five-story building complex. The temple structures are towering and magnificent, reaching high into the sky, flanked by pagoda-style bell and drum towers, further enhancing its imposing and spectacular grandeur. Standing on the balcony of the main hall on the second floor, one can overlook the Taipei metropolitan area, with the city's scenery fully visible, exciting your spirit and making you wish to linger indefinitely. The design of its halls primarily adopts traditional Chinese temple architectural styles, while incorporating artistic features of Ming and Qing dynasty palaces, integrating both traditional and modern design elements to create a timeless charm. Adorned and nestled amidst ancient pines and emerald cypresses, with red bricks and yellow tiles, it is truly like "a vibrant red accent amidst a sea of green," making it captivating and awe-inspiring.
