Visitor Essentials

Viewed from above, the Xindian River makes a turn here at Huazhong Riverside Park, forming a large flood plain. The curved terrain resembles a crescent moon, or even a boomerang. The vast, flat green lawns are perfect for hosting large-scale events. It's also an ideal spot for watching sunsets and birdwatching. The park boasts rich biodiversity; fish schools swim back to feed in the river, and wild birds can be seen hopping among the trees everywhere. The park offers a variety of children's play facilities. Thoughtfully, fine sand has been laid down for safety. Seating is also provided around the facilities, allowing parents to relax while keeping an eye on their children's activities, fostering parent-child bonding. Since 2009, the city government has established the Huazhong Campsite here, offering tent and RV campsites for public application. It is arguably Taiwan's first large-scale riverside campsite. When cycling through the riverside park and passing under Huazhong Bridge, you'll find carnival stalls serving as a rest stop for cyclists. The stalls offer a diverse range of products, including Taiwanese snacks and traditional toys. Adjacent to this is a bicycle practice area, offering different levels of riding practice, providing a safe and comfortable space for children or the general public who are not yet skilled riders. Information boards nearby explain basic cycling knowledge and proper riding techniques. It is recommended to first read the explanations on these boards and the basic cycling information provided on this page to ensure a happy and safe practice and riverside cycling experience. After a rest, continuing downstream, you'll pass through a tree-lined tunnel. In the mornings, many people can be seen dancing and exercising here, creating a vibrant atmosphere. You don't necessarily need to cycle when visiting this area. There are also various sports fields, such as basketball courts, not just for friends to play a pickup game, but also a beach volleyball court, allowing you to enjoy the sun and sand and sweat it out even in the city. Whether strolling along the levee-top pathway in the early morning or at night, under the shade of trees or in the gentle breeze beneath a sky dotted with faint stars, gazing at the lush green meadows below, offers a different kind of charm. Additionally, spacious parking lots are available at the entrances of Huazhong Gate 1 and Gate 2, helping to alleviate urban parking issues. Huazhong Riverside Park connects to Machangding Memorial Park and Youth Park nearby, making it an excellent choice for couples' dates. There are also many dining options available near Youth Park.
