In 1708, the ancestors of Kuo Yuan Ye crossed the sea from Zhangzhou, Fujian, to Taiwan. At the Shilin Bridgehead, carrying a simple pole, they initiated a new chapter in Taiwan's traditional pastry history. Through four generations of legendary management, this century-old establishment continuously innovated, earning its reputation as a "Pastry Dynasty." After a century of refinement, Mr. Kuo Yuan Ye established Taiwan's first pastry museum to preserve the precious historical assets of Taiwanese pastries. The museum showcases the century-long history of the "Pastry Dynasty," introduces the evolution of Taiwan's traditional pastry industry, and details the customs associated with traditional Taiwanese weddings, funerals, and celebrations, thereby fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of traditional Taiwanese pastries among the public. The Kuo Yuan Ye Pastry Museum's Shilin Branch, opened in 2002, followed the 2001 opening of the Yangmei Branch. It is situated on the 4th and 5th floors of the Kuo Yuan Ye corporate headquarters, at the original site of the century-old Kuo Yuan Ye establishment. Beyond the exhibition areas that present the hundred-year history and evolution of Taiwanese pastries and traditional customs for various occasions, the museum features a "Happy Bakery" where visitors are invited to bake pastries themselves and experience the delightful world of confectionery. Additionally, there are "Parent-Child Activity Zones" and "Outdoor Parent-Child Recreation Areas," allowing both adults and children to gain a greater appreciation for Taiwanese pastries through a variety of activities and facilities.
