Visitor Essentials

"Beitou" always offers endless tales of culture, legends, and stories. After exiting Xinbeitou MRT Station, follow the curling wisps of hot spring steam, and ahead, a scenic hot spring town full of greenery awaits – this is Beitou Park. Beitou Park is comprised of urban planning parks Beitou No. 1, 2, 4, 54, and 55, covering an area of 61,129 square meters. The first thing that catches the eye is the entrance dancing fountain, completed in 1998. At fixed times daily, accompanied by music, lights and water jets dance, re-injecting new vitality into Beitou, an old Taipei area rich in culture. Along Guangming Road, you'll pass rare old trees such as the Paperbark Tree and the Lu Hua Tree, bearing witness to the rich history of Beitou Park, which is approaching its hundredth anniversary. During your journey, you will also pass by the Green Library, the first of its kind built by the Taipei Public Library, which emphasizes energy conservation and carbon reduction, and brings an atmosphere of books to Beitou Park. The fountain at its entrance is also a prime spot for film shoots. Following Beitou Creek, you'll find where "Beitou Stone," the only mineral in the world named after a Taiwanese place, originated, though it is no longer found here. Crossing the path and ascending the steps, you arrive at the Zhongshan Road side. Besides the Beitou Outdoor Hot Spring Public Bath, there's also the historic building "Meiting," inscribed by Mr. Yu You-ren. It has now been designated as the Meiting Tourist Information Center by the Taipei City Government's Department of Information and Tourism, offering visitors the most considerate services. There's also the renowned Hot Spring Museum, with its Japanese and Western combined wooden window frames and red brick architecture, which seems to still carry the distinct scent of sulfur, allowing visitors to appreciate the aesthetic beauty of Japanese colonial-era architecture. Surrounded by babbling streams and swaying greenery, being there feels like stepping back into the leisurely pace of old times. Beitou Park has endless old stories and diverse communities of flora and fauna. Surrounding it are famous attractions like Geothermal Valley. Why not take advantage of a holiday to arrange an intellectually stimulating trip that cleanses both mind and body? You're sure to return enriched.
