The Xingtian Temple Beitou Branch, commonly known as "Zhongyi Temple," primarily worships Lord Guan. It is located at No. 50, Lane 18, Section 4, Central North Road, Beitou District, Taipei City. This is a branch of the highly popular Xingtian Temple on Minquan East Road in Taipei, yet its history of establishment predates that of the main temple. The names of the original Taiwan Railway "Zhongyi Station" and the current MRT "Zhongyi Station" were both derived from their proximity to "Zhongyi Temple." "Guandi Temple Xingtian Temple," known to worshippers in the past as "Jiutai Street Enzhugong Temple," was originally located near today's Xinxing Junior High School in Zhongshan District, Taipei City. "Guandi Temple Xingtian Temple" was very popular, but its temple grounds were later designated for school use. The temple actively sought another site for relocation and found a propitious location in Beitou Galao (today's Zhongyi Mountain) in 1956 (Republic of China Year 45). It was funded and constructed by Master Xuankong, the founder of the three Xingtian Temples, and completed on May 31, 1965 (Republic of China Year 54), featuring a grand three-hall temple layout. The Xingtian Temple Beitou Branch covers an area of approximately 8 hectares. Its temple architecture is majestic, and in addition to an attached library, the area boasts lush greenery, rich natural ecology, and well-planned facilities such as walking paths, landscaped gardens, rest pavilions, parking lots, and public restrooms. It also serves as the starting point for the Zhongyi Mountain hiking trail planned by the city government. Ascending the steps from the foot of the mountain, visitors are first greeted by a vast expanse of lush green grassland, landscaped gardens, and a palm-lined avenue. Continuing upwards, after passing through the Sun and Moon Gates, one reaches the spacious front hall of the Beitou Branch Temple. The temple courtyard is very wide, where red walls and grey flagstones intertwine under the blue sky to create a serene atmosphere. Passing through the main gate, one sees the elegant Jade Emperor Hall and the Bell and Drum Towers, showcasing magnificent architectural beauty. After visiting and paying respects at the Jade Emperor Hall, the Rear Hall, and the Sanyuan Hall, heading towards the back mountain reveals an even deeper sense of serene natural beauty. Strolling along the verdant, secluded paths, gazing up at dense bamboo groves, or contemplating ancient, weather-beaten rocks, one increasingly feels the tranquil charm of the scenery. Ascending the 800 steps on the right side offers panoramic views of Guandu Plain and the Tamsui River. The expansive and refreshing vista makes it an ideal spot for excursions, hiking, and spiritual contemplation along the Beidan (Northern Tamsui) route.
