Zhishan Cultural and Ecological Green Park

Zhishan Rock features archaeological pits where human remains from approximately 2500 years ago were unearthed. It holds numerous important treasures and abundant archaeological resources. Over 6000 years, seven cultural strata have developed and been revealed, making it a living archaeology classroom. In 1896, an incident known as the 'Zhishan Rock Incident' occurred, involving anti-Japanese rebels attacking Japanese teachers. After Taiwan's Retrocession, it also served as an important military stronghold for the intelligence bureau. In recent years, under the planning of the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs, the former ammunition depot here was renovated and transformed into an exhibition hall. Besides enjoying nature along Zhishan's natural boardwalks, visitors can also come to this exhibition hall to learn about Zhishan's cultural background and explore the deepest secrets of Taipei City. The Zhishan Rock Exhibition Hall integrates Zhishan's natural ecology and geological landscape. The first floor features physical exhibition rooms, including: a geological stratum model that clearly shows the patterns and changes of each layer; a full-area model offering a panoramic view of Zhishan Rock; and restored pottery models illustrating the evolution of tools used by early inhabitants, from crude to refined. The first floor also features numerous explanatory panels, such as the Prehistoric Archaeology Corridor, which introduces the archaeological process and discoveries, as well as explanations on animal and plant ecology, geology, biology, and more, allowing visitors to understand Zhishan's story. The second floor is a multimedia-integrated classroom, featuring a DIY classroom and creative drawing activities where visitors can unleash their ingenuity, along with a screening room for irregular ecological film viewings and observation windows. Additionally, there is a mini-broadcaster experience booth where children can enjoy the fun of reporting news. The establishment of the exhibition hall is the first step in preserving Zhishan Rock's culture. However, the most important value of the exhibition hall lies in arousing visitors' appreciation and affection for this land during their visit.
