Beitou Hot Spring Museum

This public hot spring bathhouse, famous since the Japanese colonial era, features British Tudor-style country architecture. Its calm red brick walls, black roof tiles, and lush greenery create a perfect place for relaxation and leisure. On the first floor, Romanesque arches surround the bathing pool, and sunlight streaming through stained-glass windows casts exotic patterns. The second floor, with its Japanese-style rooms and tatami flooring, combined with the faint scent of hot springs in the air, makes the misty memories of yesteryear seem to reappear before your eyes. Thanks to the diligent efforts of local residents, this historic building was preserved and transformed into today's Beitou Hot Spring Museum, serving as the best introduction to Beitou. The first-floor exhibition space is divided into four zones: 'Grand Bath and Hokutolite,' 'Beitou Bathhouse SENTO,' 'Fragmented Light,' and 'Expo Hall.' The second-floor exhibition space is divided into six zones: 'Beitou Impressions,' 'Multi-media Audiovisual Room,' 'Observation Tower,' 'Taiwanese Film's Hollywood,' 'Onsen DOZO,' and 'Tatami Activity Hall.' The Observation Tower is one of the most beloved areas of the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. From the tower, visitors can gaze out at the lush Beitou Park and Beitou Library, offering a place for post-bath relaxation and appreciation of Beitou's scenic beauty. The Tatami Activity Hall offers panoramic views of the entire Beitou Valley and the beautiful park. The open indoor space is well-ventilated, and the faint scent of sulfur in the air deeply imprints the wonderful experience of Beitou's hot springs. The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is not only a precious historical memory but also profoundly encapsulates the local residents' deep affection for this land.
