Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM) has established its iconic status as Taiwan's first modern art museum since its opening in 1983. TFAM's core spirit lies in planning its spaces and exhibitions with innovative and dynamic thinking, dedicated to integrating art appreciation into the daily lives of the public. This unique building, designed by architect Kao Erh-Pan, features one basement level and three above-ground levels, each with a distinct curatorial focus: The basement level primarily serves as a platform for nurturing emerging talent, hosting exhibitions for young artists, group shows, and competition exhibitions, and also includes a library and dining services. The first floor features the entrance lobby, exhibition walls soaring up to six meters high, and a spacious atrium with a three-story ceiling, making it the primary venue for significant large-scale domestic and international exhibitions. The second floor is designated for permanent exhibitions, showcasing a rich collection of works organized by art historical context or specific themes. The third floor, utilizing its bright natural light and double-cross-shaped interwoven spaces, primarily hosts thematic curated exhibitions. Beyond its diverse exhibitions, TFAM also actively plays a role in educational promotion, regularly organizing seminars and holiday parent-child activities, proactively creating opportunities for interaction between the museum and the public, thereby bridging the gap between art and life. In recent years, TFAM has further introduced Saturday evening opening hours and specifically enhanced the lighting for the museum building and outdoor sculptures. As dusk falls, Ju Ming's bronze sculpture "Arch of Light (Tai Chi Arch)" and Lee Tsai-chien's red stainless steel work "Homerun (Red-No-Let)" on the plaza gleam under the lights, becoming the most beautiful artistic visual focal point on Zhongshan North Road.
