Zhongzheng Mountain was originally called Mt. Mituo (also known as Mt. Shibafen or Mt. Daganlin). It is renowned for its distinct mountain shape and expansive summit views. Its trail system is radial, with seven trailheads, and the Zhongzheng Mountain Trail is the most classic route among them. This is a trail that demands physical strength and stamina in exchange for stunning rewards; the panoramic views from the summit observation deck are top-notch. The Zhongzheng Mountain Trail starts from Dengshan Road. This trail consists almost entirely of steep stone steps leading directly upwards. Hikers must prepare their physical strength and leg power beforehand, as it offers a solid workout for cardiovascular fitness. Although the uphill sections are energy-consuming, the journey is far from boring. As the altitude increases, the full panorama of Beitou city and the Keelung River gradually unfolds beneath your feet. Resting pavilions along the way or the front of the old Dizang Temple are excellent spots to rest and overlook the city scenery. Upon reaching the summit observation deck, the views are consistently surprising and seemingly boundless: Qixing Mountain and Shamao Mountain, which are usually difficult to view closely, are now right before your eyes, with distinct mountain ridges layering one after another. Wandering through Butterfly Silhouettes and Flower Seas: A Rich Ecological Symphony. The Zhongzheng Mountain Trail is part of Yangmingshan National Park, and Zhongzheng Mountain itself falls within the park's boundaries, boasting an extremely rich ecosystem. According to surveys, there are hundreds of butterfly species here, accounting for one-quarter of all butterfly species in Taiwan. As you stroll, you can often see swallowtail butterflies flying in groups, and even spot butterfly larvae on treetops or the ground. When the flowering season arrives, golden acacia blossoms, rhododendrons, and mountain cherry blossoms adorn the forest. Along the way, in addition to the chirping of insects and birds (such as the Crested Serpent Eagle and Formosan Barbet), cicadas and katydids hum in summer, and from winter to early spring, the Taipei Tree Frog's deep mating calls add a rich auditory feast to this mountain climb. Exploring Serene Bamboo Paths: A Varied Descent Experience. On your return journey, you can choose different paths to descend. Consider following the bamboo forest trail, sometimes passing through tranquil bamboo groves, and sometimes connecting to industrial roads. This mixed approach not only brings you closer to the beautiful scenery of Guandu Plain and Tamsui River but also adds different layers of interest and variety to your trip.
