Visitor Essentials

Lengshuikeng is nestled in a serene valley between Qixingshan and Qigushan. This spot was once a volcanic vent; however, erosion over time and human cultivation have softened its appearance, leaving only a shallow depression today. Geologically, it is primarily composed of tuff breccia and andesite. Rocks near the spring source have largely turned into clay due to geothermal alteration, bearing witness to the historical traces of volcanic activity. The spring water at Lengshuikeng has a temperature of approximately 40 degrees Celsius, which is significantly lower than other hot spring areas, hence its name ("Cold Water Pit"). It is also Taiwan's only precipitated sulfur deposit. The spring water, rich in minerals, exhibits a dreamy milky-white color, earning it the beautiful name "Milk Pond." The hot springs here are indirectly heated by groundwater and possess two unique types of water quality: neutral bicarbonate springs and weakly acidic sulfate springs. Beyond enjoying the hot springs, consider taking a stroll to the beautiful Juansi Waterfall or visiting the tranquil Menghuan Lake Ecological Protection Area. In this rich environment, you might encounter various friends from nature at any time, such as the noisy Long-legged Cricket Frog, the Swinhoe's Frog whose calls resemble bird songs, or the rough-skinned, warty Bufo bankorensis toad. Occasionally, you might also spot snakes and other reptiles. While ensuring your own safety, please treat these lovely inhabitants gently. Observe them quietly and avoid disturbing their lives.
