Lantan Moon-Shadowed Lake Heart

An urban new aesthetic – 'Moon-Shadowed Lake Heart' showcases its charm. Lantan Lake covers an area of approximately 70 hectares, located near Shan Zi Ding in the eastern suburbs of Chiayi City, 3 kilometers from the city center. Historically known as 'Hongmao Pond' (Red Hair Pond), legend has it that it was dug by the Dutch over 300 years ago, hence its name 'Lantan'. It is the main water supply source for the Chiayi area, with a vast expanse of natural ecological resources. The scenic area's back mountain boasts abundant natural resources, including various plants and insects, making it a famous tourist attraction in the Chiayi area. Lantan's 'Moon-Shadowed Lake Heart' is a recently completed new tourist highlight, situated in Chiayi City's backyard garden – Lantan Scenic Area. It is the work of artist Wang Wen-Chih, an openwork main structure woven from aluminum sheets. Under the moonlight, light and shadow transform, creating a uniquely beautiful form. Like a bird's nest built upon the lake, it echoes the surrounding trees and birds, brimming with natural wild charm. The design theme is 'Moon-Shadowed Lake Heart' (月影潭心). 'Moon Shadow' (月影) represents the beautiful scene of 'moonlight shimmering on the water' (泛月). 'Lake Heart' (潭心) refers to the ripples in the center of the lake, while its homophone 'talking heart-to-heart' (談心) conveys the leisurely enjoyment of strolling by the lake. This communicates the landscape imagery of Lantan Lake's 'moon, water, and leisurely strolls'. Ceramic water droplets at the bottom of the circular pool seem to symbolize Lantan's inexhaustible water source, extending into dreamy colors. The upper part of the central bird's nest resembles a peach, symbolizing Chiayi City's ancient name 'Peach City'. The side tree nests stand upright like a turkey's tail, reminding visitors of the local specialty 'turkey rice'. Its design incorporates Chiayi City's cultural and tourism characteristics. Ascending the openwork bird's nest woven from aluminum sheets to gaze outwards is like climbing a tower to view the scenery, as described in 'Yueyang Lou Ji' by ancient literati. It offers different moods and views, whether it's day or night, rainy or sunny. At night, the lighting changes in four phases, creating various aesthetics and offering a place for public nighttime recreation.
