Water Source Water Meter House

Elegant Architectural Art – Water Source Water Meter House. The Water Source Water Meter House is located opposite the Agricultural Research Institute on Minquan Road, Chiayi City. Its design is very elegant and unique, imitating Renaissance Baroque architecture, featuring robust columns combined with simplified gables. This architectural style is rare in Chiayi City, which is why it has been preserved to this day. The land it stands on is designated for forestry use. In the past, before the road was widened, it was always obscured by trees and bushes. However, after the section of Minquan Road between Chiayi Park and Lantang Elementary School was widened, the "Water Meter House," hidden for decades, finally came into view. Its distinctive architecture and design have since attracted significant attention. This building was constructed by the Taiwan Water Corporation for water meters. Completed during the Japanese colonial period, it has a history of at least eighty-five years. The Water Meter House was responsible for recording the daily flow of the water purification plant, but due to it no longer meeting modern practical needs, it has been out of service for over twenty years.
