Central Fountain

A landmark embodying the spirit of Chiayi people. Built in 1970 (the 59th year of the Republic of China) when Ms. Hsu Shih-hsien was mayor, this colorful central fountain features fourteen different spray patterns, cycling through them approximately every fifteen minutes, with water reaching heights of up to twenty meters. Especially at night, the vibrant colors and varied patterns are breathtakingly beautiful. Today, on the day before every election, candidates gather their supporters here for rallies, a practice that has become a unique characteristic of the Central Fountain. It has also solidified its status as a landmark representing the spirit of the Chiayi people.
