Sun-Shooting Tower

A unique landmark in Taiwan that is so captivating, even the mythical giant Kuafu would struggle to keep pace! The Sun-Shooting Tower is the most iconic new landmark in Chiayi City, located within Chiayi Park. Visitors simply need to look up to see a giant Bauhinia blakeana flower, reflecting beautifully against the blue sky. The Bauhinia blakeana is Chiayi City's official flower, and its beauty is fully showcased through the tower's design! This circular building, featuring Chiayi City's official flower as its sloped roof, stands on the former site of the old Martyrs' Shrine. The 62-meter-tall Sun-Shooting Tower allows visitors to ascend to the tenth and eleventh highest floors for a 360-degree panoramic view of Zhu Lu, with the beautiful mountain city scenery fully visible. At the entrance, there is a pair of bronze cloud leopard sculptures, symbolizing Taiwan's guardians. The base of the tower houses the Martyrs' Shrine, where the memorial tablets of martyrs are carved from white marble for public reverence. From the second floor upwards is the Sun-Shooting Tower. To change the public's stereotypical impression of the old Martyrs' Shrine, this building represents a major breakthrough, both internally and externally, imbued with more humanistic and artistic flair.
