In memory of Mei Yi-chi, the first president of National Tsing Hua University, there is a 'Plum Garden' (梅園) located on the hill behind the campus. The Plum Garden is filled with plum trees, and every year when the plum blossoms are in full bloom, it attracts many visitors who come to admire them. People also enjoy walking to the Plum Garden for a casual stroll, resting in the pavilion, and escaping the summer heat under the shade of the trees. Within Tsing Hua University, there's a secret small path that can transport you between Tsing Hua and National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) in an instant. To this day, this path is full of controversy – should it be called the 'Qing Jiao Path' or the 'Jiao Qing Path'? Students from both universities have their own interpretations, leading to two signs standing side-by-side: the 'Qing Jiao Path' for the direction from Tsing Hua to NCTU, and the 'Jiao Qing Path' for the direction from NCTU to Tsing Hua. The sight of these two signs standing together is truly amusing. Near the South Gate of Tsing Hua University on Baoshan Road, a giant 'Bauhinia Leaf' art sculpture stands on a grassy field. The rust-colored leaf oxidizes over time, blending even more harmoniously with the landscape. Many people take photos here to preserve memories, capturing the interplay of light and recollections. And here's a little secret: students have playfully nicknamed this artwork 'lung slices' because, from a distance, it does bear a striking resemblance.
