The Long'en Canal in Hsinchu City is one of Taiwan's three major ancient canals. It has a history of 300 years since its construction by ancestor Wang Shijie in 1718 to develop Zhujian (Hsinchu), witnessing the development of Hsinchu City. In May 2018 (ROC calendar year 107), the 'Long'en Canal Landscape Space' was officially completed. The Hsinchu City Government utilized the ancient canal waterway and the old trees along its banks to create, in sections, elevated green spaces, dense forests, and park playgrounds. It connects Central Park, Sanmin Park, Sanmin Junior High School, and other areas in a north-south direction. The areas along both sides of the canal connect major streets and small alleys, forming a super-large urban green corridor 770 meters long.
