The Chiayi County Performing Arts Center, a large-scale performing arts center established in Chiayi County in recent years, is designed with the concept of a cultural park as its main theme, covering a very wide area. The center spans a site area of 6.1 hectares, with 9,000 ping (approximately 29,700 square meters) of indoor floor space. Its facilities include a performing arts hall, a small theater, large and small rehearsal rooms, an open-air theater, art galleries, audio-visual classrooms, a visitor service area, a social restaurant, cultural shops, a waterside stage, multi-functional performance pavilions, and parent-child pavilions. Beyond promoting performance culture, it also boasts features for leisure and tourism. Its core design integrates local culture with an international perspective, alongside essential commercial requirements. Notably, within the park, visitors can be both audience members and performers. The spaces and designs emphasize strong approachability, incorporating opportunities for serendipitous encounters between everyday life and art culture. With Taiwanese local architecture as its primary aesthetic, the center aims to inspire a strong sense of cultural identity among visitors through their experiences. Many large-scale cultural and artistic events are currently held here. Specific facilities include: Performing Arts Hall: A 1000-1200 seat proscenium theater. Exhibition Hall: Displays achievements from community arts and cultural workshops, information on performing groups, artists' paintings, etc. Audio-Visual Classroom: Regularly screens videos of cultural and artistic events, hosts small seminars and meetings. Theater Hall: A 400-seat specialized theater for performances. Small Rehearsal Room: Provides space for community workshops in drama, dance, and music. Large Rehearsal Room: Used for resident theater company rehearsals and performing group warm-ups. Outdoor Performance Pavilion: Primarily for experimental, louder performances; normally serves as a space for rest, meditation, and viewing. Multi-functional Performance Pavilion: For community performance activities; normally used for youth gatherings, group recreation, morning exercise, and folk song singing. Waterside Stage: For traditional opera performances such as Nanguan, Beiguan, Taiwanese opera (Gezaixi), and shadow puppetry; normally used for tea drinking, relaxation, and conversation. Cultural Shopping Street: Bookstores, stationery shops, sales of community arts and cultural achievements, cafes, etc. Restaurant: Provides dining services for audience members and park visitors.
