The 'Titanic' is actually a towering cliff on a mountain, a famous scenic spot within the Tashan mountain range, which is composed of cliffs and precipices, and it is also part of the sacred mountain region of the Tsou people. Long before the arrival of the indigenous people, this massive rock had already formed due to the forces of orogeny (mountain-building). After the movie 'Titanic' gained popularity, the rock formation was named after it because its bedrock resembles the deck of the Titanic, and its terrain looks like half of the ship's cabin emerging from the water during its sinking. Later, safety railings were erected along the cliff edge, attracting a large number of tourists. Locals refer to this area as Spispi, which means 'where typhoon grass grows abundantly,' and also implies 'a corner of the back mountain'. The vertical rock face of the Titanic Cliff drops at least five to six hundred meters. Standing on the cliff, the view is incredibly expansive and the scenery is magnificent. Below, the beautiful Tashan Mountain, Alishan Creek Valley, and the Laiji Tribe are all clearly visible. Within the fantastic and ever-changing valleys encircled by mountains, Alishan Creek winds like a slender white silk ribbon. The steep rock faces in the green valley are breathtaking, and at sunset, the colorful clouds are perfect for photography and cherished memories.
