Longyin Temple is one of the important attractions in Chukou. Construction of Longyin Temple began in August 1980, with the temple starting to be built without any funds. Initially, it relied on dedicated devotees serving as volunteers, and slowly a management committee was established. Nestled amidst beautiful mountains and waters, Longyin Temple is accompanied by the Tenchang and Dijiu Suspension Bridges in a picturesque environment. It is an essential rest stop for tourists traveling to Alishan. The temple and its bridges have become a landmark that tourists must stop at when passing through Alishan, and also an important scenic spot and religious sanctuary along the Alishan route. The temple primarily enshrines Master Li Xiuyuan, commonly known as Ji Gong Chan Shi (Monk Ji Gong), who is also referred to as the Five Bodhisattvas (Wugong Pusa) because he reincarnated five times to save the world. Ji Gong Chan Shi's enlightenment day, which is also his birthday, falls on the third day of the tenth lunar month. A grand fire-walking ceremony is held almost every year on the day of the festival. Its main purpose is to help all beings avert disasters, change their fortunes, exorcise demons, and ward off evil. As the deity's statue passes through fire, its divine power becomes even more prominent, thus frequently attracting many temples and numerous devotees from across the country to participate in the ceremony. On weekdays, there are also temples and devotees from various regions, while the wild paths next to the temple are ideal for enjoying the mountainous and natural scenery.
