Regarded as a sacred tree by locals, the Yongxing Big Camphor Tree is a unique landmark in Yongxing Village, Shuili Township, Nantou County, boasting an age of up to 300 years. It has a circumference of 6.2 meters and stands 26 meters tall. This enormous tree cluster often gathers local residents who chat, relax, and play in its shade, also serving as a spiritual center for the community. It's truly worth exploring the charm of this sacred tree. The old camphor tree group is formed by three 'mother-and-child' trees, and a Dàshùgōng Temple (Temple of the Great Tree God) is located there. Beneath the trees, villagers have also built a Tudigong Temple (Earth God Temple). People frequently visit to pray for good relationships, and couples come to worship for family harmony and peace. During temple festivals, Taiwanese opera (Gezaixi) and Taiwanese glove puppet shows (Budaixi) are performed under the trees, making it a shared memory for the older generation of villagers.
