Shipai County Border Park

Shipai County Border Park is located at the junction of Pinglin District, New Taipei City, and Toucheng Township, Yilan County. It sits at the mountain pass of the famous Beiyi Highway (Provincial Highway 9), at an elevation of approximately 538 meters. Historically, it was a crucial transportation hub for traveling between Xindian and Yilan, traversing the mountains of northern Taiwan. The park's geographical location is unique, situated at the top of the winding 'Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns' section of the road, which makes it an important stop for passing vehicles and travelers to enjoy the scenery, rest, and resupply. From here, there is an observation deck (Jinmian Platform) where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the Lanyang Plain, Guishan Island, and the vast Pacific Ocean. Especially on clear days, the scenery is breathtakingly picturesque, making it one of the most iconic viewpoints along the Beiyi Highway.
