Visitor Essentials
The Oriental Thread Art Museum is located in Yongguang Village, Su'ao Township, Yilan County, and is Taiwan's only exhibition and experiential venue dedicated to thread-winding craftsmanship. The museum originated from Xiongyi Enterprise, which began in 1985 by manufacturing export-oriented ornaments. It gradually developed "Oriental Chán" artworks, which fuse traditional Chinese paper-cutting, weaving, and embroidery techniques with Taiwan's unique thread-winding methods. The museum particularly integrates traditional elements such as totems, floral patterns, and landscapes, combining them with Minnan Chunzaihua and Hakka Chanhua (both forms of traditional thread-wrapped flower art) to create cultural and creative craft products with distinct Taiwanese local characteristics.
