Dong'ao Bay, Fenghniaolin Fishing Port

Fenghniaolin is situated at the southernmost end of Dong'ao Bay, a secluded bay renowned for its clear blue waters and dramatic rocky coastlines. It was originally a small coastal fishing port known as 'Fenghniaolin Fishing Port'. In earlier times, many wild pigeons gathered by the harbor, leading locals to name it 'Fenghniao' (粉鳥), which means 'pigeon' in Taiwanese Hokkien, thus giving it the name Fenghniaolin. Although wild pigeons no longer congregate here today, the name 'Fenghniaolin' has become one of the most poetic place names along Yilan's coastline.
